My Family's Military Service
This web page is dedicated to all of my relatives who have served in the military, from WWI through the Present, and all branches of the military.  They served to protect thier country and to ensure the freedoms in the rest of the world.  Thank you for visiting my site, and remember to check back periodically for new additions.

Arthur Rutt served in the British Army from 1915-1920.  After only a few months in the service he was sent to France to fight on the front lines during WWI.  He saw action at the Battle of the Somme with the Kings Royal Rifle's, and at the Battle of Mesinas Ridge, Battle of Ypres, and the Battle of Cambria with the 29th London regiment.  He was wounded in early 1916 while at the Battle of the Somme, and received a British Wound Bar, the British version of the Purple Heart.   He was discharged in 1920 from the 26th Royal Fusiliers at the rank of Sergeant.  He served on the front lines during the entire war, from 1915-1919 when the war ended.  His medals and decorations include the British War Medal and the World War I Victory Medal.

Frank Ligouri
Frank Kisel served in the United States Army from 1942-1946.  As a member of the infantry, he was sent to the Philippines in 1943 as a part of MacArthur's attempt to retake the land from the Japanese with "B" Company of the 322nd Infantry Division .  He stayed in the Philippines from 1943-1945.  During his time there he was wounded when he was shot in the abdoman.  For this he received the Purple Heart.  He also received the Combat Infantryman's Badge.  He was discharged in 1946 as the Platton Sergeant for "B" Company at the rank of Technical Sergeant.  His medals and decorations include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Campaign Medal , World War II Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
John Meigel served in the United States Army from 1945-1946 with the 752nd Tank Battalion.  He served as a light armored truck driver.  He served in Italy during his entire period of service as part of the Army of Occupation sent to rebuild the country.  He was also a qualified marksman with the M-1 Garand, the Army's service issue rifle at the time.  He was discharged in 1946 at the rank of Corporal.  His medals and decorations included the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal.
Robert Cunningham enlisted into the United States Army in 1946.  After completing his training he was sent to Japan as a part of the Army of Occupation sent to rebuild the country .  He served as an infantry soldier  in Company "C", 35th Infantry regiment, 25th Armored Division .  He was qualified as an Expert Infantryman and was discharged from the Army in 1948 at the rank of Private First Class.  His medals and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, World War Two Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupatuion Medal.

John Trotta
Ronald Morse was drafted into the United States Army in 1953.  After completing his training he was stationed in Esslinger, Germany.  He served as a company clerk for the 77th Ordinance Supply Depot of the 7th Army.  He was discharged from the United States Army in 1955 and held the rank of Corporal.  His medals and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.
William Knight enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1954.  After he completed his training he became an Air Crew Chief for the C-121 Cargo Plane.  He was stationed at Sampson AFB, McClellen AFB, Chanute AFB, and Otis AFB.   He served in the Air Force until his discharge in 1957 when he held the rank of Airman First Class.(Airman First Class of the 1950's is equivilant to the Senior Airman of today).  His medals and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon. 
Joseph Migliore enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955.  After he finished his training at Sampson AFB he was sent to France where he served for 3 years as a jet mechanic.  During his training he qualified as a sharpshooter with the M-1 Carbine.  He was discharged in 1959 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.  His medals and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon.
Donald Bartell enlisted in the United States Army in 1955.  After completing his training he was stationed in Hawaii at the Schofeild Barracks.  He served as a machine gunner in "C" Company, 24th Regiment, 25th Infantry Division.  In 1956 he bacame a company clerk for "D' Company, 35th Regiment, 25th Infantry Division.  In 1957 he transferred into the Army Reserve, where he served until his discharge in 1963 at the rank of Specialist.  During his service he qualified as a sharpshooter with the M-1 Carbine, the M-1 Garand Rifle, and the .50 Browning Machine Gun.  His medals and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Gordon Knight enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1960.  He served as an administrative clerk for 4 years.  He was discharged in 1964 at the rank of Airman First Class.  His medals and decorations include the Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon.

Ralph Mais
Ralph Mais enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1963 and attended recruit training at Parris Island, SC.  After this he attended Basic Infantry Training in Camp Lejeune, NC, and then attended Air Traffic Control School at the Naval Air Station in Glynco, GA.  He was first stationed at Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro in Santa Ana, CA.  In Febuary of 1966 he was deployed to Vietnam and was stationed at Marble Mountain Marine Corps Air Facitlity in Danang.  He then served at the Phu Bai Airport from May 1966 through September 1966, and then again from January 1967 through April 1967.  In the time between that he served in Dong Ha.  His service in Vietnam ended in April of 1967 and he was then stationed at the Marine Corps Air Facility, New River, NC.  In 1967 he was discharged from the Marine Corps and held the rank of Sergeant.  His medals and decorations include the Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, RVN Gallantry Cross w/ Bronze Star Attatchment, and Vietnam Campaign Medal, as well as an expert with the M-14 service rifle.

John Trotta enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in 1943 as a jet mechanic.  He spent his first two years in New Mexico.  In 1945 he re-enlisted as a Military Policeman.  He was sent to England in early 1945 and later that year was sent to Germany.  There he specialized in black market activity after the war.  He was discharged in 1947 as a Private First Class.  His medals and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal.
Charles Bartell enlisted in the United States Army in 1950.  He was a member of the elite Army Airborne and was trained in upstate New York.  He qualified as a Basic Parachutist at this time and served until 1952 when he was discharged at the rank of Private First Class.  His decorations included the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Salvatore Ligouri served in the United States Army Air Force.  He enlisted in 1943 and served until 1945 with the 327th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force.  He qualified as an sharpshooter w/ the M-1 Garand.  He served in Europe during WWII from 1944-1945.  His medals and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/ three campaign stars, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and the French Croix de Guerre.  He also received the Presidential Unit Citation and the Meritorious Unit Citation and the Belgian Fourrageress.
Scott Knight enlisted into the United States Navy in 1992.  He served for 3 years, 2 of those as a radioman for a 4 star admiral, Admiral Mike Boorda.  He served in Naples, Italy and was discharged in 1995 as a Seaman.  His medals and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, and two Navy Oversea Service Ribbons, along with the Joint Meritorious Unit Comendation.
Frank Ligouri was drafted into the United States Navy in 1943.  He joined the famed "Seabees"  and served three years in the Pacific.  He spent most of the three years on the Marshall Islands building air strips for United States aircraft in the Pacific. He was discharged in 1946 at the rank of Seaman First Class.  His medals and decorations include the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Campaign Medal w/ one campaign star, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Robert Vance Jr. entered the United States Army in July of 1952.  He was stationed in Korea during the Korean War as a member of the 1666 Medical Detatchment and the 1092 Engineer Combat Battalion.  He was discharged in July of 1954 at the rank of Sergeant.  His medals and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal w/ two campaign stars, United Nations Korean Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea Service Medal.

William Leckie
William Leckie enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951.  In September of 1952 he attended US Naval Flight Training and in Febuary of 1954 he was commisioned as an officer in the US Navy.  After this he served in Utility Squadron 5 at the Naval Air Station in Agana Guam, and later in Cavite in the Philippines, as well as the Naval Air Station in Atsugi Japan.  He then returned to the Naval School Preflight in Pensicola FL as an instructor.  He was then stationed in the Naval Air Station Ream Feild, and on the USS Bennington CVS 20, an Anti-Submarine Aircraft Carrier ported in San Diego CA with Anti-Submarine Squadron 8.  He then attended Armed Forces Intellegence training at Lowry AFB in Denver CO, and later he served in the HQ US European Command in Paris France.  He then served as the Intellegence Officer on the USS Hancock CVA 19 Attack Aircraft Carrier in the waters off Vietnam.  He ended his career serving at the Fleet Intelligence Center, Atlantic, in Norfolk VA, and then as the first commanding officer of the Fleet Intellegence Training Center in the same area.  He retired in 1975 at the rank of Commander, with Naval Aviator Wings and many medals and decorations including the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal w/ 1 bronze star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea) Vietnam Service Medal w/ 4 bronze stars, RVN Gallantry Cross w/ palm, RVN Gallentry Cross Unit Citation, RVN Civil Action Unit Citation, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Dale Curtiss
Capt. Dale Curtiss of the US Navy Reserves in uniform.
Captain Dale Curtiss entered the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1973 and was commisioned in the United States Navy Reserves in 1977 after graduating .  Because of this he received the US Navy Reserve Merchant Marine Badge, signifying that he was commisioned throught the Merchant Marine Acadmey.  From 1979-1983 he was the Commnunication Officer on the USS Preserver, a Navy Reserves Rescue and Salvage Ship.  From 1991-1992 he was the Commanding Officer of the Shore Intermediate Maintinance Activity in Portsmouth, and was the Executive, as well as the Commanding Officer at the Naval Research Laboratory 307 from 1992-1997.  From 1999-2001 he  was the Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Sea Systems Command 1006.  From 2004-2005 he served as the Commanding Officer at the Naval Sea Systems Command Qual Unit 105.  Since 2005 he has served as Chief Inspector at the Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity-106.  He has been on sea service in South America (Brazil & Argentina), Northern Europe (England, France, & the Netherlands), and the Mediterranian/Far East (Spain, Italy, Morocco, Algeria, Suez Canal, Persian Gulf and Singapore).  He currently holds the rank of Captain and his medals and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy "E" Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Navy Reserves Sea Service Ribbon, Navy Recruiting Service Ribbon, and the Navy Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ silver hourglass.

John Migliore
John Migliore entered the United States Naval Reserve in June of 1957.  In July of 1958 he transferred to active duty.  He spent his time on active duty serving on the USS Hyman, a calss DD-732-Destroyer, and was home ported in Newport RI.  He returned to the reserves in July of 1960, and remained there until his discharge as a Gunner's Mate 2nd Class in 1965.  During his time he received the Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal.
